this is brendon smith, hes 17 years of age, he lives in camden, london.
the way he is dressed is pretty formal for a typical indie emo look, he is wearing a black waistcoat and a red t-shirt underneath skinny stripy trousers with a belt, on his waistcoat he has a brouch.
his hair is black and pretty long for a guy he has bangs which is a typical emo haircut.
he likes rock music and prefrebly bands such as: panic at the disco, fall out boy, escape the fate.
he buys most of songs on either itunes or hmv. He also likes to buy his clothing from places such as topman, river island men, blue and baron jon, h&m for men, holister, marks & spencers, paul and bear, abercoumbie and fitch.
i think my ideal reader of my magazine will be in the ages  of 15 - aprox 27 or more depending wether they like the typical rock bands mentioned in my magazine. i know many people who are of the older age which do listen to the typical popular rock bands such as mettalica, guns and roses, so it could be aimed at the older audience if i manage to send a message forward that my band is a classical rock band.
taking from this you can tell that my magazine is most likely to be a rock magazine but i am still thinking of doing a mixed magazine which includes hip-hop, indie, heavy metal, so on and so forth.
so the magazine could be targeted to many people such as people who like knowing about alot of different types of music, the general music papers.

Tuesday 9 November 2010

in todays lesson we are to:
1. think about what you want for the magazine?
2. Age,gender, ethnicity, social class, religion?
3. what other media products would they buy?
4. would the reader invest in other music industry such as itunes?
5. what artist would intrest the reader?
6. is the reader looking for serious music commentry, or is the reader driven by a desire for star images and celebrity lifestyle?
1. for my magazine i want to have many small images in the backgroung of the main image of a band or just the lead singer
2. i want the age to be attracted by 15+.
a) male and female.
b) not a specific ethnic.
c) middle class.
d) any whoever likes the music.
3. CDS, concert tickets, other lifestyle products.
4. yes if they want to download the latest tracks.
5. possibly both serious and a mixture of a celebrity lifestyle and images.

my final contents page :)

the title on this magazine stands out alot as it has white font and a darker background, the font is very bold and writtien in block capitals.

just on top of the magazine theres a small subheading saying jimmy page at the olypics-Exclusive. just beside it has a small picture of jummy page.

the magazine also has a small little guitar pick sayign free 15 track cd. which is effective to the reader makes them want to buy it.

the image is very strong becuase you have james hetfeild posing right in the centre of the magazine

Sunday 31 October 2010

the magazine bellow is my final piece for the front cover of my school magazine.
i used the image because the person (me) is hiding her face away from everything and it is outdoors
i think it is effective for the little subheading about her making her way through a-levels and i think it would make the reader want to know how and want to look inside for the story.
i used the yellows and black to stand out from the white and the image itself.
:)

In this poster for superhero movie it is very coulorful and the charectors in the poster are mainly known for playing very funny roles in other movies, the way that they are portrayed in the poster is to look funny they are playing charectors from other movies so you think that it could be a parody of an existing film. this film can be represented for teens and adults from the age of 20-30 mainly, this is becuase the film is a comedy and many people like comedy films and it look like a film that will make you laugh.
the title is at the bottom and you would not see a magazine with a title at the bottom.

Wednesday 29 September 2010

I decided that my magazine will have a simple title and subheading making the magazine stand out and include a image of someone or something and make it stand out to attract the eye of the audience.
i looked at different magazine covers to get an idea of what i wanted my magazine to look like.

I picked this magazine becuase the title once again is very simple but catchy, this magazine also has detail as what is going to be in the magazine , the main part in the magazine.
the colour of the title is pink and bold the background is white and has an image of a lady which stands out and also makes you wonder why shes on the front cover of the page. this also make the reader want to look inside, this could be an idea for me to take a picture of a person or a group of people to make the audience want to look inside myt magazine.

I chose this magazine as an idea for a nice simple title. i looked at the magazine to see how organised it is and the techniques they use to make a succesfull magazine cover by using a strong image and a bold title.
this picture also has a nice subheading which is put ontop of the image to stand out, it is a question so it makes you wonder whats is she going to say about herself.
that makes me think that putting a question on the front cover might make the audience want to read it.
the colour of the magazine is also very simple it is black, grey and white which are very simple tones and makes the magazine stand out instead of those very crowded magazine.

23rd september blog

Today during my lesson i went out to the common room to ask a few of my fellow peers to vote on the name they liked or thought was most catchy title for a sixth form magazine.
I managed to colect a numerous amount of votes and reasons why they selected that specific title. the results where as followed,
1) common room gossip magazine. 6 people
2) the mouth mag!. 20 people
3) school life. 6 people
4) school vibe magazine. 25 people
in total i asked 57 students in sixth form to see which title the prefer.
only a small amount of those students gave me a reason for why they pick that title.
the comments were as followed,
1) common room gossip magazine were, sounds like something good to read.
it is a magazine teenagers in the school would like to read.
2) the mouth mag!, sounds girly.
sounds great.
sounds too cool.
sounds relatable and attracts the younger audience and is also catchy.
3) school life, sounds cool and can include everything to do with school.
4) school vibe magazine, the word vibe stands out.
i like the word vibe because it is positive.

from the feedback the students have given me i am going to pick the one i think gave more of a positive response for.
i hope to accomplish a simple example draft of the front cover of my magazine by tuesday. and i would also like to complete a draft for my contents page.

22nd and 23drd of september blog what i done

On the 22nd of september i tried out different backgrounds to start of my peliminary task for my school magazine i also started thinking of different names for the magazine. Seeing it is school magazine i had to think of something that sounds like a good title but it refers to education and school.
23rd september i had to think mainly about the title for the magazine i so far have come up with 4 different title names, with these names i hope to ask a few of my friends to ask which title they preffered. I will mark them down on a peice of paper and scan it on to the computer as proof. Hopefully i will be able to complete this by my next lesson.
